Mathira did an ad which was soon banned because of the nature of it. You can imagine the ad and Mathira was a very deadly combination in a society like Pakistan. So the ban was almost inevitable sooner or later.
Someone far away caught the attention of this Mathira ad. Yes we are talking about a Turkish TV program who telecasted this ad in their program and told that this was banned in Pakistan due to the outrage of the people.
The reason which the hosts and guests of that program were telling for the reason which banned the ad were totally wrong. They thought that Pakistanis were against the family planning and they didn’t liked it. But the reality is Pakistani people are not shameless like Turkish people.
Turkey has modernized itself and it was Mustafa Kamal who laid the foundations for the secular Turkey. The people who are not attached to their religion know the real value of the religion but Turkey as a country may be Muslim but in reality they are only secular.
Turkey is in fact a combination of good and bad. There are people who have their attachment with the religion and Islamic culture and Muslim world. They want to stay Muslim and practice Islam. Whereas there are also people who like west and western cultures.
It is those westerns who are against anything which is in support of Islam. The ad of Mathira was only an excuse but what they really did is mocked the Pakistani society.
Mathira acted in an ad which has gain fame in the international world. The ad was about the family planning and it was banned the day it was released on TV. Only Mathira can do something like that. One achievement which Mathira got is that this ad attracted the attention of international media.
The Turkish media commented on the ad. They rather mocked it and Pakistanis more than commenting on it. The host of the program had some prejudice about the society of Pakistanis and they thought that this ad was opposed due to the family planning issues and Pakistanis do not like it.
But the reality is the Pakistani people criticized this ad because of vulgarity and these kind of things are not accepted in the Pakistani society. The main thing which Pakistanis want is modesty and shyness in certain issues.
Unlike west and western culture obsessed countries like Turkey Pakistani boast about their culture and they have their own ways for everything. The Turkish people on the other hand are obsessed of western culture and they are dying to be part of EU.
Turkey is a secular state and the people of Turkey are mixed in their approach. At this moment the secular and so called modern people have a stronger hand in the society of Turkey but the Justice party is slowly and steadily working to convert Turkey back as it was during the Ottoman Empire. This ad of Mathira may be seen as badly in Turkey as in Pakistan but this America based channel didn’t mocked Mathira but Pakistanis.
